Abuja: A Nigerian military plane crashed near Abuja airport, killing seven people.
According to a report by a foreign news agency, a Nigerian military plane crashed ten kilometers away from Abuja Airport due to engine failure, killing seven people.
Nigerian Aviation Minister Hadi Serica said on social networking site Twitter that the aircraft King Air 350 had crashed.
Nigeria’s aviation minister did not provide further details, saying a preliminary investigation had found seven people killed in the crash and that he would wait for an investigation.
A spokesman for the Nigerian Air Force said he was driving at the airport because of the crash, but did not provide further details.
Rescue operations have been launched at the scene after the crash and an investigation into the crash is underway.
